When I got married, I did a lot of the things my own way. Though I found a lot of great information online, and knew where to get the best bargains, there were just certain things that I wanted to do on my own. I have always been like that, and my husband-to-be was not that surprised. I saved a fortune on my wedding dress because I chose one that was a few seasons old, and I thought about my guests before I thought about what I wanted. I even made my own wedding veil.

After I found a bargain on the wedding dress I loved, I had a little extra money to spend, but that didn’t mean I was going to spend it. I could have bought a wedding veil that was very nice, but I couldn’t see spending the money on it when I could make one myself that I would love. It did take me a while to get it right, but the wedding veil I made was very nice, and fit my personality perfectly. I didn’t want something hanging over my face, and that did make things a little easier.

When my brother and my sister-in-law got married, they had a daisy wedding. Though they were already planning to get married, they move their wedding day up because they were expecting their first child. This worked out for the best for them, as the date they chose happened to be when daisies were in bloom. The morning before the wedding we rode around and picked all of the daisies that we could find. We ended up with armfuls of them, and my sister-in-law could not have been any happier.

If you are getting married soon, you have so much to do. One of the things you will have to think about is your wedding cake designs. Though some only have one cake, some choose to include the groom cake. This is smaller, and usually made from more decadent ingredients. If you want to have both, you have two cakes to choose instead of one. Either way, you want to have something that you love, and that might not be as easy as you thought. Planning a wedding can be fun, but don’t let anyone fool you, there are many choices and you can get overwhelmed.

You should have something in mind when you go. You don’t have to have anything specific picked out, but having an idea of what you want will help them narrow down the choices they present to you. You may be given a book to look through, and if you can find something in that book that you like, you have lucked out. You may have to choose something that is close, and then have them tweak your favorite wedding cake designs to suit your mood.

As a wedding and event planner, I am subject to more than my fair share of indignation and madness. You see, until people plan their first wedding, they never think about how much weddings cost. They want to have affordable weddings, yet they also want to have all of the glitz and glamor. The problem is that, even if you buy a low-cost bridal gown, are frugal on the wedding cake, cheap bridesmaid dresses, and all the rest, it still adds up to a lot of money. The bottom line is that, if you want to have an affordable wedding, you have to be willing to make sacrifices.

I am not saying that having affordable weddings is impossible. If you’re willing to have a small wedding ceremony with only a few of your very closest friends there, you can do it for quite a sensible price. The problem is that, if having affordable weddings is your aim, you’ve got to plan everything around it. That means that you have to have a small guest list, make reservations at an inexpensive place, have an affordable wedding gown, rent a tuxedo for the groom, and generally skimp and save at every chance. Some of my clients have actually taken their own wedding photos to save on the cost of hiring a photographer!

Todays weddings easily reach into the thousands. No matter if you do the majority of the planning yourself, including making the reception foods, having the wedding in your own home or backyard and creating the floral arrangements and decor yourself, there are going to be significant costs involved. The larger your wedding, the higher the cost. It is quite possible to make your own wedding favours that are actually quite nice.

Handcrafted wedding favours may include charming ideas such as personal scrapbooks, candles, or homemade candy. For your bridesmaids, you could include a picture frame, which can be purchased very econimically and include a picture of that special bridal shower to personalize it.

Hopefully, if you have a daughter, there will only be one time when you are the mother of the bride. This will be a special day for you, and your daughter will be relying on your for support, even if she does not say as much with words. You may find that she is leaning on her friend for a lot of things, but your presence will be all of the comfort that she needs. The mother of the bride is often more of a position of honor, but all moms and daughters know what is really going on.

My mom didn’t take her mother of the bride role too seriously, though I kind of wish she had. I loved that she was supportive, but she was only as supportive as her husband would allow her to be. Though he was happy my husband and I were getting married, he is not big on anything like a wedding or a party. He is a very simple man, and feels uncomfortable when he has to dress up. All of the excitement of a wedding was something that was too much for him, and he took up a lot of my mom’s time when I needed her.

So you want to get married, and you’re on a tight budget. Or, perhaps you simply don’t want to go into debt for the one single day, allbeit special, that begins your life together with your special someone. It’s possible! But it takes alot of work! It is indeed much easier to plan a costly wedding in today’s world-having professionals take care of nearly everything. But that’s another story.

For now, here’s my story. Quite frankly, there is nothing more tedious than planning an inexpensive wedding. You have to get creative and resourceful, using any skill necessary or knowing someone that can help you. Depending on the style of wedding you’d like, determines a lot too. Of course you could simply elope or get married at the justice of the peace. But usually those suggestions are not too well received by the bride or families.

To hear certain religious conservatives discuss wedding traditions, you’d conceive that they had been around since the beginning of time and never alter. They carry on about traditional wedding consecrates, the role of husband and wife in marriage, weddings, and everything else, giving the impression that it’s absolutely immoral to change a tradition that began at the dawn of time. Actually, the idea of a wedding tradition is virtually foreign to today’s culture. Traditional weddings entailed something quite different than still the most conservative weddings in the present.

Earlier on, a wedding was in essence little more than an agreement for the transference of property. The bride would be given away by the father to be the husband’s property from then on. Although you can see reverberations of this wedding custom in the modern world, few people in our society would concur that we have a better, more egalitarian way of viewing marriage.
